Reports out of Corpus Christi grade school have rumored the old tag team combo of Joshua "Sir" Sleime and Nik "The Bear" Hutchinson to be linked to a possible late season last gasp effort at a playoff spot.

The Nasty's Doc Saseen was almost on his way last winter to play in Japan. Saseen revealed he seriously mulled an offer to play for the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, where Kenji Johjima spent 11 seasons before joining Major League Baseball's Seattle Mariners. The Doctor is now hitting fourth for The Nasty's, and posted a May batting average of .390 with three home runs and 17 runs batted in.

Sluggers should be a dangerous team if they can pick up a player such as Doc Saseen, Jason Clark, or Justin Clark. They could be a force pending the presence of Sir Slim.

Culled from various publications and websites, these are, near as I can tell, actual observations from Ichiro the Sage: On his first matchup with Daisuke Matsuzaka on American soil: "I hope he arouses the fire that's dormant in the innermost recesses of my soul. I plan to face him with the zeal of a challenger." On the then-slumping Mariners' prospects of improvement: "If there is a problem, we need to notice what creates the problem. The problem usually isn't just on the cover. You need to look much deeper. For example, if we're talking about a tree and the tree has a problem, you need to look at the root. But you cannot see the root. The mistake is to keep watering the fruit. That's not going to solve anything." On losing a fly ball in the flint-gray Anaheim sky: "The ball became the same color as the sky. So, I wasn't able to see it. … I was sending mental signals for the ball not to come my way, because during that time of day it's impossible for me to see the ball, so I lacked mental signals. I lacked in that area. … Usually, I don't send mental signals. So, because this is the first time, I thought, 'Please don't come my way.'" Finally, on making up yet another game in Cleveland last night, to the Seattle Times: "To tell the truth, I'm not excited to go to Cleveland, but we have to. If I ever saw myself saying I'm excited going to Cleveland, I'd punch myself in the face, because I'm lying." Mental signal to Cleveland: If I become a free agent, don't bother calling.

Attention Mike (Commish): That's a nice picture you posted in that article. I don't know how it looks on your monitor, but it's a little dark on mine. If you want to send it to me, I can lighten it up in Photoshop and send it back to you. ~51

Update: The slumping Doc Saseen will be moved down to the bottom third of The Nasty's batting order, but a demotion to Triple-A is not likely, the Wheeling Intelligencer reports. Recommendation: "I want to move him out of the top part of the batting order, " manager Brett Hambleton said. "I think he's applying a little bit of too much pressure to himself." The Nastys might be considering sending Saseen to the minors when Tyler MacFarland (hamstring) comes off the DL, but that could be a problem, as officials at Triple-A Warwood have told the Rays they don't want Saseen back, based on the numerous disciplinary issues he was involved in last season; this season's further issues for Saseen won't help.

Just wanted to inform everyone about the best baseball stats site on the Internet. Also that it provides a unique opportunity to advertise as well as show your support for your favorite baseball player(s). I sponsored Bubbles Hargrave for $10 in a trial effort to drive even more traffic to our wonderful League site. Sponsorships range from $5 to $500 depending on player popularity. I play in alot of Sim leagues and use the Baseball-Reference site quite a bit.

Weekend update: 1-2 once again for the Rackets. Elsewhere, the Sluggers had all the potential to go 3 and 0. However, slugger Josh Sleime's leave for beareavement proved a significant detriment to his team's losing 1-2 effort. Slim's Sluggers shouldn't feel too bad though, as Term's Troops, like the Rackets, also fell victim to the Nasty's. Big hits from East Liverpool's Josh Congrove and Big Nasty himeself contributed to The Nasty's second straight winning week this season. In related news: Doc Saseen signed to a 2-year - $180 dollar deal. Thus solidifying the Nasty's shallow yet effective piching staff through 2009.

To my favorite Wiffleball player: Mike McNeil saved a mediocre season for the Ball Busters of the NL Only fantasy league when he came up in the Summer of '06 and became the Wiffs fill in closer. Thanks Mike!

Big Nastys' GM Brett Hambelton said his club would probably be a seller as the trade deadline approaches unless it makes a quick and drastic turnaround, but he downplayed the possibility of trading Doc Saseen. Hambelton said he had not talked to any clubs about "The Doctor" (Saseen) recently. Hambelton, however, also acknowledged that most clubs are tied up with preparations for the upcoming amateur draft. He said he did not have any plans to shop Saseen, who is eligible for free agency after 2008. There have not been any substantive talks about signing Saseen to a contract extension.
